Pressotherapy, also known as lymphatic drainage, is a modern medical and aesthetic method aimed at stimulating the lymphatic system, with the aim of removing excess fluid, toxins and waste materials from the body. It is a non-invasive, rhythmic treatment that is used both for therapeutic and preventive purposes, especially for people with a slow metabolism, swelling, decreased immunity or after surgery.
Unlike classic massages that focus on deep muscle manipulation, pressotherapy works gently and superficially - it follows the course of the lymphatic vessels and stimulates the work of the lymph nodes, where the lymph is filtered and cleaned. This method uses controlled pressure to stimulate lymphatic flow, facilitating the removal of retained fluid and harmful substances from the intercellular space.
Why is the lymphatic system important?
The lymphatic system is responsible for eliminating toxins, maintaining fluid balance and supporting the body's immune function. When there is a blockage in the lymphatic flow - whether due to illness, injury, surgery, physical inactivity or stress - the body reacts by accumulating water, creating swelling, reducing immunity and feeling chronic fatigue.
Pressotherapy helps to restart and normalize this system, using the body's natural mechanisms, without chemicals and invasive methods.
In our office, we use a device that enables real medical lymphatic drainage, simulating the natural rhythm of lymphatic pressure. The treatment is completely safe, and the results are already visible after a few procedures - in the form of a reduction in swelling, a feeling of lightness in the body and a general improvement in circulation.
Pressotherapy is increasingly used as an important therapeutic method in physical medicine, postoperative rehabilitation, aesthetic care, but also in the prevention of chronic conditions. Although it is often associated with cellulite and "water retention" treatments, its effect is deeply medically justified and multifold beneficial for the entire organism.
Below are the most common indications for applying pressotherapy:
Lymphedema (chronic swelling): This is one of the most important medical indications for lymphatic drainage. It can occur after the surgical removal of lymph nodes (such as in breast cancer), due to congenital disorders of the lymphatic system, or as a result of injuries. Lymphatic drainage is a primary therapy for these conditions, often used in conjunction with compression bandages.
Postoperative recovery and rehabilitation: After surgeries (whether aesthetic or orthopedic), swelling and fluid retention commonly occur. Lymphatic drainage promotes faster recovery, accelerates the resorption of hematomas and swelling, improves mobility, and reduces pain.
Water retention in the body: Hormonal imbalances, a sedentary lifestyle, poor circulation, and stress can contribute to fluid retention, especially in the legs and abdomen. Lymphatic drainage acts as a natural drainage system, helping eliminate excess fluid without the need for aggressive diuretics.
Chronic fatigue and weakened immunity: Congestion in the lymphatic system slows down the body's ability to eliminate toxins, leading to feelings of heaviness, decreased concentration, and frequent infections. Lymphatic drainage stimulates the lymph nodes, activates the immune system, and aids in the body’s regeneration.
Cellulite and aesthetic concerns: Lymphatic drainage is also utilized in anti-cellulite treatments, as swelling in the subcutaneous tissue can contribute to the formation of "orange peel" skin. This therapy reduces skin thickening, improves tone, and eliminates excess fluid in problem areas.
Headaches and sinus problems: Lymphatic drainage of the face and neck can alleviate tension headaches, dizziness, and symptoms of sinus congestion. It encourages the removal of excess fluid from the head and neck, thus reducing pressure and pain.
PMS and menopause: During periods of hormonal change, symptoms such as fluid retention, breast swelling, and mood changes frequently occur. Lymphatic drainage can help the body manage these cyclical conditions naturally, without medication.
Sports injuries and muscle fatigue: For athletes, lymphatic drainage can reduce inflammation, improve the elimination of lactic acid, and accelerate muscle recovery. It is often used after intense training or competitions.

Does pressotherapy (lymphatic drainage) help with cellulite?
Yes, pressotherapy, also known as lymphatic drainage, significantly helps in the fight against cellulite. The treatment improves lymphatic circulation and eliminates excess fluid from the subcutaneous tissue, which leads to a reduction in swelling, tighter skin and a visible reduction of the "orange peel" effect. Regular application contributes to better cell nutrition, so the skin becomes smooth and toned.
How often is pressotherapy (lymphatic drainage) recommended?
The frequency of pressotherapy depends on your health condition and the goal of the treatment. For therapeutic purposes - for swelling, lymphedema or after surgery - a series of 2 to 3 treatments per week is recommended for several weeks. For preventive care, improvement of circulation and detoxification of the body, one treatment per week or every two weeks is sufficient. After the review, our expert team will recommend the optimal plan, adapted to your needs.
What are the advantages of pressotherapy (lymphatic drainage)?
Pressotherapy improves circulation, relieves swelling, strengthens immunity, promotes detoxification and contributes to faster recovery after operations or injuries. It also has a relaxing and stress-reducing effect.
Is the pressotherapy treatment safe?
Yes, pressotherapy is completely safe when applied with professional supervision and medical equipment. It is non-invasive, painless and suitable for a wide range of users - from athletes to people with lymphatic congestion.
How many pressotherapy treatments are needed for visible results?
The number of treatments depends on the goal of the therapy. For aesthetic treatments, a series of 6 to 10 is usually recommended, while for medical indications, the number is individually adjusted according to the patient's condition.
Does pressotherapy - lymphatic drainage help with weight loss?
Pressotherapy - lymphatic drainage is not a direct method for weight loss, but it significantly contributes to the elimination of excess fluid, reducing swelling and improving metabolism. This makes it easier for the body to get rid of toxins and creates more favorable conditions for losing fat deposits when combined with proper nutrition and physical activity. In people suffering from water retention, the effects are often visible after just a few treatments.
How long does a lymphatic drainage treatment last?
A standard treatment lasts between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the body region and the goal of the therapy. Treatments with a medical lymphatic drainage device are time-efficient and allow for targeted action, especially on the legs, abdomen or arms.
How do we feel after lymphatic drainage?
Most people feel relief, lightness and better circulation immediately after the treatment. Some people may experience increased fluid excretion (urination) during the day, which is a sign that the lymphatic system is activated. The therapy is relaxing, painless and slightly sedative.
Can lymphatic drainage be combined with other therapies?
Yes, it is often combined with physical therapy, anti-cellulite treatments, apparatus cosmetology, but also with exercise and dietary regimens. In rehabilitation, it is combined with electrotherapy, TECAR therapy, or spinal decompression for faster recovery.
Is pressotherapy - lymphatic drainage suitable for everyone?
Mostly yes, but there are certain conditions in which lymphatic drainage is not recommended - such as acute infections, malignant diseases in the active phase, severe heart or kidney failure, as well as thrombosis. That is why it is important that there is a professional assessment and examination before the treatment.
